Kerdesha Desir is an Associate Attorney at Ziegler Law Group LLC, where she represents clients in complex and emotionally sensitive family law matters. Her work spans divorce, child custody and support, alimony and spousal support, parenting time and relocation disputes, and domestic violence proceedings. She also has experience handling related criminal and municipal matters that frequently arise from family-related incidents.
Kerdesha approaches every case with care, structure, and a strong focus on her clients’ goals—helping them understand the legal process while working toward outcomes that protect their best interests.
Kerdesha regularly represents individuals navigating high-conflict family law situations, including contested divorces and custody disputes. She is experienced in motion practice, non-dissolution family matters, and proceedings that require detailed legal strategy combined with emotional awareness.
Her approach is grounded in preparation, communication, and advocacy—ensuring that clients are informed, supported, and positioned to make sound decisions during pivotal moments in their lives.
A significant part of Kerdesha’s practice involves representing clients in domestic violence matters, including appearances at Final Restraining Order (FRO) hearings. She understands the urgency, seriousness, and long-term impact of these proceedings and works diligently to protect her clients’ rights and safety.
Kerdesha has also handled criminal and municipal matters that intersect with family law cases, giving her a broader courtroom perspective and the ability to manage situations where multiple legal issues overlap.
Before entering private practice, Kerdesha served as a student attorney with the Center for Social Justice Family Law Clinic, where she worked directly with individuals and families in need of legal representation. She also completed a judicial clerkship with The Honorable Lisa F. Chrystal, P.J.F.P. (ret.) in the Family Part of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Union County.
This firsthand exposure to the inner workings of the New Jersey family court system strengthens her ability to anticipate procedures, understand judicial reasoning, and advocate effectively for her clients.
Kerdesha earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida, graduating magna cum laude, a Latin honor meaning “with high praise.” This distinction reflects a sustained record of academic excellence based on GPA and coursework performance—not a symbolic award, but a measurable achievement.
She went on to receive her Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law, where she held leadership roles in the Black Law Students Association and the Family Law Society. During law school, she also served as a research assistant for the American Law Institute’s Restatement of Children and the Law, contributing to nationally recognized legal scholarship in family law.
Kerdesha understands that family and criminal law cases are not just legal disputes—they are deeply personal. With every case she takes on, she works directly with clients to demystify the legal process, explain options clearly, and pursue strategies aligned with their long-term interests.
Her combination of legal rigor, courtroom experience, and human understanding makes her a trusted advocate for clients facing some of life’s most difficult transitions.
